Yes, that is my left hand, folks. I must admit, it's rather difficult to take a picture with the iPhone 6+ using only one hand. My hands are in no shape or form big enough to snap a photo with my thumb without struggling.
Its origin? I honestly have no clue. Why is this even running? What is the main purpose? Who was the first person to set the trend into action? Why is this even a thing?
I... do not know the answer to those questions either. However, I could hypothesis that this is to increase the hype of the upcoming installment in the numbered series of Final Fantasy. Observations will be made and data will be collected in hopes of formulating a solid conclusion to quench my curiosity.
